Cosmetic skin resurfacing is a treatment that uses a laser to reduce facial wrinkles and irregularities caused by sun damage or acne.
The laser procedure directs a short, concentrated pulsating beam of light at the irregular skin. Ablative laser skin resurfacing removes skin layer by layer, which stimulates the growth of new collagen fibers. Non-ablative laser resurfacing promotes the development of new, more healthy collagen, which helps restore the skin contour and appearance with minimal downtown.
Factional laser technology is another option where the light is delivered in a grid. This allows normal, untreated skin to remain within the treated area and results in a quicker healing process.
