Laser facial rejuvenation is a skin resurfacing procedure designed to improve the appearance of the skin. It can be used to treat sun-damaged skin, scars caused by acne, chickenpox, or minor facial flaws. This treatment can also decrease the appearance of fine lines around the eyes, mouth, and cheeks.
There are two types of lasers: an ablative laser, which removes thin layers of skin, and a non-ablative laser, which stimulates collagen growth and tightens underlying skin. This treatment is not designed to eliminate excessive or sagging skin.
Side effects and risks
Possible side effects include:
· Itching
· Swelling
· Redness
· Acne
· Infection
· Changes in skin color
· Scarring
Applying creams and bandages to your face following the procedure can worse acne or cause you to temporarily develop milia (tiny white bumps). You could also experience hyper- or hypopigmentation, meaning your skin coloring may change after the procedure.
Recovery
After laser facial rejuvenation, you should avoid unprotected sun exposure. The treated skin will be raw, swollen, and itchy. Remember to regularly treat the area with water, saline, or acetic acid and apply thick, protective ointments
