Scar Revision

Scar revision is a procedure done to a scar to alter the appearance of the scar. This can be purely for cosmetic purposes, or it can be to restore function to a part of the body that has been restricted by the scar. The goal of scar revision is to minimize the scar so that it is less noticeable and blends in with the surrounding skin tone and texture.

Sometimes scars are unavoidable as the result of an injury or surgery, and the development of scars can be unpredictable. They can be raised or depressed and can differ in color or texture from the surrounding skin. Poor healing can contribute to scars that are obvious, disfiguring, or unsightly.

Scar revision can help provide a more pleasing aesthetic look though it cannot erase the scar completely.

The method of treatment varies based on the type of scarring (keloid scars, scar tissue, hypertrophic scars, etc.). If you are interested in learning more about possible surgical treatments for scar revision, please contact one of our quality cosmetic specialists.
